Kariyushi Beach is located roughly halfway between Cape Maeda and Churaumi Aquarium on Route 58. I first stumbled across this beach whilst looking for somewhere to rest on my drive back from the aquarium, hungry, hot and in need of a swim, Kariyushi Beach was the ideal location.

My charged childhood memories of summer days spent fishing, swimming and exploring the backcountry of central Ontario are a far cry from the wild tropical jungles and lavish sandscapes of Malaysia’s island paradises, places where angel fish tango undersea, sharks and rays rub shoulders with astounded divers and the tangled web of seemingly unend

Just off the western coast of Okinawa's main island, Ie-jima styles itself as an "Island of Flowers", and it certainly lives up to the name. There's an annual lily festival and towards the eastern end of the island there's a Hibiscus Garden, a very tranquil place to stroll around.

Can you imagine any POW camp being paradise? I couldn’t, until I learned about the story of the Bando POW Camp that existed during WWI, from 1917 to 1920 in Bando, Naruto city, Tokushima.

There is something to be said for Japan’s provincial towns. They rarely host more than a trickle of visitors, and the spoils from tourism are never quite enough to disfigure a town or completely vulgarize its heritage.

Sam's Cup International Billfish Tournament is celebrating its 10th Anniversary holding its first competition in 2005 from Okinawa Marina. 

The Fleet currently sails from Ginowan Marina and hope to break last year's record field of 356 people and 55 teams.
