The Churaumi Aquarium in Okinawa has extended its closure through September 30.

The announcement on the official website matches the extension of Japan’s State of Emergency Declaration set to expire on the same date.

Other popular Okinawa tourist spots like Shurijo Castle Park, Nakagusuku Castle Ruins, Katsuren Castle Ruins, and Okinawa Zoo and Museum also remain closed but with no date set for their reopening. Shurijo Castle Park’s fee-free areas do remain open.

Private beaches such as Manza Beach, Moon Beach, and Yagaji Beach, are currently open as are Hiji Falls and Tataki Waterfalls.
