Japanese sake, or nihonshu, has become a global success and it is even present in supermarkets abroad.

Papeete

Located in the heart of the Izu Peninsula is the onsen town of Shuzenji.  A river flows through its center and many lovely Japanese inns line its banks.  With its friendly staff and cozy traditional atmosphere, the Marukyu Ryokan is a perfect choice for anyone staying overnight in the area.

There are many fine places in Japan to spend a long holiday weekend, but the one I think doesn’t get enough consideration is Shikoku. Maybe it’s because MWR doesn’t plan tours there, but for those willing to drive the extra miles, it’s a fantastic place with lots to do and see.
