Did you know?: Professional baseball team - Ryukyu Blue Oceans
Okinawa finally has its own professional baseball team, the Ryukyu Blue Oceans. The team debuted its inaugural season in Jan. of 2020. The team does not currently belong to a league but are expected to play against some of the professional teams from around the country. On the island, baseball is extremely popular and the team is leveraging this to achieve their goal of joining the joining the Nippon Profession Baseball Organization (NPB), Japan’s major baseball league.
