Kennai Saidaikyuu Mokei Tenjikai 2018, the free annual scale model exhibit, takes place at Okinawa city Civic Center near Kadena Air Base on April 14 and 15. Hailed as the largest event of its kind on the island, the event showcases work from scale model enthusiasts. Starting with “Mobile Suit Gundam” by maestro modelers, customized cars, aircraft and vehicles from Sci-fi movies are some of the examples of what will be displayed. Visitors with models of their own are welcome to get in on the event. According to an organizer, about 70% of the 350 works on display last year were those from visitors to the event. Unlike conventional exhibitions held in a quiet environment, music and videos will be played at the venue to make it fun and exciting. Also, visitors will have a chance to race battery-powered cars on a small race track at the venue.
