Illuminations are back at Okinawa Zoo

Make plans for a safe and fun holiday while enjoying some festive illuminations near Kadena Air Base.

“Christmas Fantasy” at the Okinawa Zoo will run on certain evenings through Jan. 10 and features laser beam shows, fireworks and more. Visitors will also be treated to a “Park of Snow” where on building snowmen and sleighrides in the subtropical weather is possible.

You’ll find the zoo about a 10-minute drive from Kadena’s Gate 2. The zoo is popular for its many adorable animals like monkeys and elephants, but at night, the area will be vibrant and bright to celebrate the season.

Visitor will be required to wear a mask, maintain social distance measures and sanitize hands at the entrance.

This year has been difficult, so let’s enjoy the holidays in a safe and healthy manner!

*The venue will be closed on Dec. 21-23, Dec. 28, Jan. 1, and Jan. 5-8.

Admission (walk-up): 2,200 yen (approx. $21.40, high schoolers and above); 1,200 yen (between 4 years of age and middle schoolers); free admission for 3 years and below

*Advance tickets are available for 1,800 yen (high schoolers and above) and 1,000 yen (between 4 years of age and middle schoolers) at Kadena ITT and MCCS Tours. 

* Some attractions are subject to additional admission fees
