It’s time again for America Fest, a community favorite, on Kadena Air Base. The fun-filled, family-friendly event returns April 11 and 12 on the base’s flightline. This is intended to be an open-base event “for the local community to meet U.S. servicemembers” and to learn about U.S. Forces’ “mission” and “experience American Culture,” Kadena Air Base officials said.

Under the theme “Stars, Cars, and Guitars,” the venue, which is normally busy with aircraft coming and going, will be the setting for live entertainment, a fun land and food trucks. The static aircraft display and STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) hangar open house are listed as two of the main features of the event, featuring several aircraft plus hands-on displays and demonstrations from Kadena units.

These programs allow visitors a close-up look at some of the military crafts and interactive STEM demonstrations. There will also be a large car show with 100 vehicles and a drifting demonstration.

Info on base access and entertainment lineup will be announced on the Kadena Air Base and Kadena FSS websites and Facebook pages. Performances from both American and Okinawan artists and fireworks are scheduled to be included in the program. Stay tuned!
