Shurijo Castle Park is now open after a six-week closure due to COVID-19. However, paid areas, including the main palace, remain closed. Visitors are expected to sanitize their hands, wear masks and practice social distancing.
The park closed in October 2019 after a horrific fire burned many of the structures on the grounds. It reopened at the end of the year, only to shutter its gates again in April because of the COVID-19 outbreak.
