Okinawa Zoo & Museum resumes limited operations

After closing for nearly two months, the Okinawa Zoo & Museum reopened its doors June 1 with some limitations.

Visitors to the zoo will have to skip activities like feeding animals, horseback riding, fishing and boat riding. The Wonder Museum also remains closed. In addition, visitors are expected to take precautionary measures including wearing a mask, handwashing, and temperature checks.

Hours: 9:30 a.m. - 6 p.m. (last admission at 5 p.m.)

*Admission through main gate only. The zoo’s east parking lots remained closed.

Requests for visitors

  1. Wear a mask.
  2. Maintain proper handwashing and sanitation practices. Wash hands often.
  3. Those with a body temperature of 37.5 degrees Celsius, those who suffer a cold or have symptoms of sickness are expected to refrain from visiting the site. (Body temperature will be measured with a thermometer at the entrance. If found feverish, visitors may be asked not to enter the site)
  4. Keep a social distance (two meters) within the site.
  5. Admission may be restricted at on-site stores and concession stands.
