Summer continues to be scorching hot on the island, but that doesn’t stop the fun activities to enjoy at the Okinawa Zoo & Museum during the day and at night.
Throughout the month of August, kids 15 and under can visit the park for free.
In addition to the fun zoo animals, for an additional 2,000-yen (approx. $13) fee, visitors can enjoy the Water Park Pool Adventure, a pop-up water park with slides, pools and inflatable bounce houses. The water park attraction is also open on weekdays.
The fun continues after dark every weekend in August when the park hosts Night Zoo. Visitors can meet some of the zoo’s nocturnal residents like the Japanese red fox, raccoon dog, jaguar, meerkat, and more, are waiting to chill out with you.
The night event even includes a water show at the park pond starting at 8 p.m. on weekends (not available Aug. 15-16). Projection mapping of 30 meters in depth and 15 meters in height will emerge over the water to dazzle you.
There is plenty to fill your day and night at the zoo near Kadena AB, so don’t miss out!

Admission: Free for ages 15 and under, 1,000 yen for ages 16 and over.
