VIDEO| Exploring Okinawa: Visit WWII battleground at Kakazu Ridge
Kakazu Ridge played a pivotal role in the Battle of Okinawa in 1945. Only a short 15-minute drive from MCAS Futenma and you can immerse yourself in a piece of island and world history. Today, there are still remnants of the battle but the area is also one where locals enjoy leisurely activities like walks, mini-golf and playground activities great for families. From the top the hill, get a view of Hacksaw Ridge, known for the 2016 movie by the same name. The ridge is 10 minutes away from Kakazu Ridge, and also forms an important part of history.
