In mainland Japan, we’re in the midst of the tsuyu rainy season. While it is considered as the worst season of the year, seasonal flowers, such as irises and hydrangeas are at full bloom. The colorful flowers look even more elegant and beautiful in the rain.

Today's Japanese phrase:

“Ajisai ga kirei desu!” 紫陽花がきれいです! = Hydrangeas look beautiful!

("ajisai" 紫陽花 = hydrangea(s), "kirei" きれい = pretty/beautiful, ".. ga .. desu." ・・が・・です = .. is .. )

At Nojima Park, a short 20-minute drive from Yokosuka Naval Base, tens of thousands of hydrangeas are currently at their peak. The park on Nojima Island off the Hirakata Gulf, is a large park with an observatory, a great view of the entire gulf and plenty of green space to roam. The park a is a great spot for a barbecue, outdoor activities and even camping!

Stay safe and dry. Enjoy Japan's Tsuyu rainy season with colorful hydrangeas!
