Get ready, Okinawa, women’s pro-wrestling is coming to the island.

The OZ Academy Joshi Pro-wrestling will put on its 20th anniversary show July 15.

This will be a unique opportunity to immerse yourself in Japan’s exciting “Joshi Proresu” (female pro-wrestling), where bouts can get exceptionally intense and brutal.

The 3 p.m. event will take place at Namura Hall in Naha City, and day-of tickets can be purchased at the venue starting at 3,000 yen.

Since being launched by legendary wrester Mayumi Ozaki two decades ago to train heel wrestlers, the organization has become known for their hardcore pro-wrestling where wrestlers get very aggressive. Attacks with weapons such as chains, rods, and chairs often take place in and out of the ring.

In addition to Ozaki, the lineup includes Aja Kong, another star wrestler who made several appearances in the WWF in the 90s, Sonoko Kato who is known for her finish “Kowloon’s Gate,” and AKINO, whose dynamic moves have made her a headliner.

This 20th anniversary show is expected to feature five matches, including three single matches, a tag-team match, and a six men-and-women mixed tag-team match.

Although there are many women’s wrestling organizations in Japan, it’s tough to top the dangerous and flamboyant fights in OZ.
