Lt. Gen. Ricky Rupp, commander of U.S. Forces Japan and Fifth Air Force, meets with local community leaders at Kadena Air Base, Japan, Nov. 13, 2022. The engagement with local community leaders was the first stop on Rupp’s visit to Okinawa where he will take part in multiple Keen Sword 23events. Keen Sword is a biennial, joint, and bilateral field-training exercise, involving the U.S. military and Japan Self-Defense Forces, designed to increase readiness and interoperability while strengthening the ironclad Japan-U.S. alliance.
