While the fierce heat in Tokyo and the rest of mainland Japan continues, the rainy season has officially ended according to the Japanese Meteorological Agency. The season is over in the Kanto, Tokai and Southern Kyushu regions.
The season has ended 22 days earlier than yearly average on meteorological records, the agency said. An overwhelmed high-pressure system and high temperatures are expected to continue for the next week.
The sudden hike in hot weather, the Government of Japan also urged residents to conserve energy in case of a possible power crunch.
Now that the rainy season is officially over, it’s time to grab your SPF, parasols, UV-blocking clothing and portable fans to keep safe in the summer heat. Japan’s summer is scorcher so be prepared!
