Autumnal Equinox Day, which falls on Sept. 22, this year, is called Ohigan in Japan. On this day, we often visit our family graves to console our ancestor’s spirits.

Another fall tradition is ohagi, a seasonal sweet made of sweet beans and mochi. As Ohagi is available in anywhere in this season, why not enjoy Japan’s autumn taste yourself?

Today’s Japanese phrase is: "Akino ajiga shimasu" = this taste reminds me of autumn. ("aki" = autumn, "aji" = taste, "..ga shimasu" = there is.., it makes..)

Use the phrase when you enjoy this seasonal sweet with your friends.

Stay safe and enjoy the taste of autumn!
