In a whirlwind of numbers, games, and real-world math opportunities, the Zukeran Elementary Strategic Mathematics Interventionist recently hosted a wildly successful PreK-5 Math Extravaganza at the Camp Foster Exchange. The event, held in celebration of the International Day of Mathematics on March 14th and in anticipation of April’s Mathematics & Statistics Awareness Month, brought together PACSouth DoDEA families for an evening of math-tastic fun!

Dr. Gail Jackson, the driving force behind the event, expressed her delight in seeing families engage with math in such a dynamic way. “This event not only helped us celebrate Pi Day but also kick off our excitement for Mathematics & Statistics Awareness Month for all our military-connected learners,” Dr. Hill, Zukeran ES Principal shared. “Our DoDEA families had a blast exploring math standards in a real-world setting.” The Math Extravaganza featured an array of engaging activities, including Bingo Bonanzas, Win to Spin games, a store-wide Math Scavenger Hunt, and the thrilling Pi Race to $1000. These activities not only entertained attendees but also provided valuable opportunities for learners to apply their math skills outside the classroom.

The Camp Foster Exchange, Military volunteers, and Zukeran PTO all played pivotal roles in the success of this event. The Exchange manager, expert staff, and wonderful military volunteers all warmly welcomed the Math Extravaganza families and offered their full support throughout the event. Their willingness to open their doors for this initiative underscored their commitment to supporting educational endeavors within the military community. The Zukeran PTO provided a plethora of prizes and support for this event.

A heartfelt thank you goes out to the Military volunteers, Zukeran Elementary School Staff & PTO, the Camp Foster Exchange team, and all those involved in making this event a resounding success. Together, we can empower our learners to excel in math and beyond.

Looking ahead to the month of April, this event emphasized the importance of continuing to celebrate and support military-connected learners in their mathematical journey. “We are eager to foster the confidence and joy of mathematics in our students,” Dr. Hill remarked, highlighting the ongoing commitment to promoting math education and engagement within the PACSouth DoDEA community.

The PreK-5 Math Extravaganza at Camp Foster Exchange served as a shining example of how creativity, collaboration, and community support can ignite a passion for math learning. As we embark on Mathematics and Statistics Awareness Month, let us continue to celebrate the beauty and importance of mathematics in our daily lives.
