A 3-hour drive from MCAS Iwakuni, Zentsuji City is where Internet-famous cubed and heart-shaped melons are grown. Here, farmers enclose the melons in a cube or heartshaped transparent case. Since they are harvested before they are ripe, the taste is not very good, but they keep for a long time and are popular for displays. Each cubic watermelon usually costs about 10,000 yen ($75) and up.
