Spicy Asian food always seems to hit the spot when it’s hot outside. Your sweat and the taste of hot peppers go well together.

If you’re looking to spice up your appetite, head to Jai Thai restaurant. Located in Carnival Mall in Mihama, Chatan, which is inside the building adjacent to the big Ferris wheel, Jai Thai was the first Thai restaurant in Japan to receive a prestigious cuisine award from the Thai prime minister.

From the large selection of dishes cooked by professional chefs from Thailand, Ga Prao Gai, stir-fried chicken with basil leaves, and Gai Pad Med, a stir-fried dish with chicken, cashew nuts and vegetables, are two of the top sellers at Jai Thai.

Of course, other dishes like Tom Yum Kung, a hot and sour soup with a shrimp, and Kao Op Sapparot, a fried rice with pineapple, are also customer favorites. And don’t forget to order the green curry with lemon grass, hot chili, eggplants and coconuts milk, which can be as spicy as the customer requests.

“Our food has an authentic yet delicate taste. It is not just spicy food. It’s all about the taste,” said Tomoko Noborikawa, a manager at the restaurant.

From 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., Jai Thai offers it Jai Thai Special Lunch Set, which features six different dishes, including a spicy salad, shrimp cake, pork satay or port stick, fried noodle, roast chicken, spring roll, soup and drink for 1,350 yen ($11.25). The lunch set is recommended because it’s reasonably price, has a nice variety food and is quite tasty, according to Noborikawa.

Jai Thai’s popular desserts, according to Noborikawa, are its tapioka and its Khanom Mor Gaeng, or Thai taro custard.

The interior of restaurant is traditional Thai style with wooden tables and chairs. There is a huge free parking lot for the Mihama Shopping Mall, so that you don’t need to worry about where to park. The friendly English speaking staff will welcome you with its traditional Thai hospitality.

U.S. dollars and credit cards are accepted at Jai Thai. The restaurant has also English menus with pictures.

Spice up your life and get a taste of the captivating cuisine and Jai Thai.
