U.S. Marine Corps Pfc. Matthew Duggan, a network administrator with Headquarters Company, Headquarters Battalion, 3rd Marine Division, rests during a break at a 6-mile hike on Camp Courtney, Okinawa, Japan, Feb. 21, 2020. “Being out here has given me the opportunity to better myself physically and mentally,” said Duggan, a native of Weymouth, Massachusetts. “The people and the culture around me has made a large impact on how I do that.” Headquarters Battalion regularly conducts conditioning hikes to ensure all Marines maintain physical fitness and gear familiarity to be able to move over large distances. This training supports the 3rd Marine Division’s lethality and ability to fight tonight and win.
