Xavier Taylor, an environmental protection assistant with Marine Corps Installations Pacific (MCIPAC), explains the perfluoroalkyl and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) Effluent Treatment System (PETS) on Marine Corps Air Station (MCAS) Futenma, Okinawa, Japan, July 13, 2021. MCIPAC and MCAS Futenma welcomed visitors from the Okinawa Prefectural Government, the City of Ginowan, and the Japanese Government for an onsite brief of the PETS. PETS utilizes proven, mature ion exchange technology to remove PFAS from water which results in water that meets Japanese Environmental Guidelines for drinking water.
