Name: Karess Salvage Position/Title: Center Manager Time worked at USO: Eight months Center/Office location: USO Kadena

Karess is the Center Manager at USO Kadena, located on Kadena Air Base. A spouse and mother to a wonderful son, both of whom she cites as her life’s anchor, she holds a bachelor’s degree in Human Resources and an MBA. Before joining the USO, she started her professional journey in banking, eventually moving to state government work, where she specialized in contributing to economic programs that make a tangible impact on various communities. A former military child, Karess understands the resiliency and adaptability needed for the military lifestyle. She enjoys reading books, listening to various styles of music, and spending quality time with her family, often at the beach!

Why do you love working at the USO? I love working at the USO because I often get the chance to give back to the brave men and women of the armed forces. Additionally, I can connect with their families and provide a home away from home environment for them.

What is your favorite memory of working at the USO? My most cherished moments at USO Kadena are the opportunities when our team of staff and volunteers come together to celebrate each other’s hard work. We love recognizing our volunteers as they are the heart of our center, and we couldn’t accomplish what we do without them.

FEATURED PROGRAM: Yoga with Hannah is one of my favorite USO Kadena programs! During this yoga session, participants can decompress by going through various yoga movements, learning how to cope with stress in a healthy and positive way.
