The Karate Kid Part II was not filmed in Okinawa. Although this sequel to one of the most iconic movies of the 80’s was set in Okinawa, supposedly the homeland of Mr. Miyagi, Okinawa scenes were actually shot in Hawaii. Likewise, “The Teahouse of the August Moon,” another Hollywood classic set in Okinawa, was mostly filmed in Nara prefecture of Japan, not in Okinawa.
