Guiness-certified and crowd-favorite Naha Tug of War is again canceled this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

This is the second year the event usually held in mid-October has been cancelled. The event along with the Naha Dragon Boat Races and the Shurijo Castle Festival is considered one of the three major must-attend of the year.

For the Tug of War, crowds of up to 70,000 or more gather to watch or participate in the competition of pulling a giant rope measuring 656 feet and weighing 40 tons.
