Welcome to virtual vacation video series where we can explore destinations from the comfort of our homes.

Join us as we take a short virtual journey to Ishigaki Island.

The great thing about this destination is that it is easily accessible from most bases around Japan’s mainland and is a quick flight from Tokyo and Okinawa’s main island.

Ishigaki Island has plenty of culture, activities, food and beautiful beaches, which make it a great getaway destination.

Some of the must-see spots in Ishigaki Island include:

  • Uganzaki- This cape with a stunning ocean view is on the island’s westernmost point. Make plans to catch the beautiful sunset here, and, if the weather is clear, the view even allows a look at Iriomote Island, which is 20 kilometers away.

  • Ishigaki-Jima Shounyudo- Explore the hughe stalactites and sounds of waterdrops inside this bright and colorfully illuminated 2-mile-long cavern.

  • Shiraho Beach— A trip to Ishigaki Island isn’t complete without a visit to this sandy beach. The waters off area are home to various coral and tropical fish. For a closer look at the coral reef, hop on a boat ride nearby.

Last, but not least, Kabira Bay is a destination that you can’t miss. This beach draws many tourists for its iconic ocean view where small islands dot the beautiful waters in turquoise blue.

While touring this beautiful area, make sure you try some Ishigaki beef. Its soft texture and sweet and savory taste make this local product one of the most sought-after beef in Japan.

I hope you enjoyed a look at Ishigaki Island through travel photos and that it's inspired your next trip. Stay safe and get ready to travel with us in our next video. Thanks for watching!
