Pandemic or not, cherry blossoms are back on Okinawa to lighten the mood and bring some color to the landscape.
Kanhizakuda, a type of cherry blossoms common on Okinawa, are starting to bloom. At Mt. Yae in Motobu Town and Nakijin Castle Ruins in Nakijin Village, the flowers have already hit peak bloom.
And, if you’re lucky and the weather is cooperating, the vibrant pink colors rendered against the backdrop of the blue sky will enchant you. It will also be fun to see Japanese white-eyes and honeybees fly around the flowers.
We are not out of the woods yet, so take precautions before going out to take in the season’s favorite blooms.
