Periodical rests during a long road trip are a must. From MCAS Iwakuni to Tokyo, we made four stops at different service areas (SA) along the 12-hour drive. Japan's SAs go far beyond gas and burned coffee pots you’ll find along the U.S. interstates. You’ll find regional souvenirs, restaurants serving impressive meals and all the snacks and drinks your heart desires. And for the ultimate in relaxation, some extra-large SAs have hot springs to soak in or amusement parks with a Ferris wheel and rides for the kids! So there is a reason to drop by and take a rest at SAs on your road trip along expressway!
