PCSing soon? Download the Army PCS Move app to better prepare for your move! The app is filled with helpful information to assist you throughout your PCS.

What is the purpose of the app?

The Army continues to prioritize our Soldiers’ quality of life through the continued development of the Army PCS Move app, which helps Soldiers, families and Army civilians plan, prepare and improve their PCS experience.

The app allows users to access an organized central hub of information on entitlements, types of moves, planning and scheduling tips, claims, and essential moving information related to COVID-19 impacts – all in the palm of their hands.

How long has it been around?

The Army PCS Move app was launched on April 30, 2020.

What do you hope to achieve with the app?

The goal for the Army PCS Move app is to help families initiate their moves, track progress and file claims to expedite reimbursement, if necessary. Soldiers, family members and Army civilians are encouraged to leverage the app’s capabilities throughout the moving process to ensure a smooth PCS experience.

Anything else you'd like to add?

The “live chat” function, known as the “HHG Chat,” takes users to the Army Personal Property Call Center page, where they can submit forms and discuss PCS issues in real time with a transportation specialist.

Any user can access the Army PCS Move app through the Digital Garrison app. Synchronization of these two apps provides Soldiers, families and Army civilians access to predictable, flexible, adaptable and tailorable functions and information, reducing uncertainty – one of the biggest challenges for Soldiers and their families.

In addition to the app, the following improvements were made to make the PCS experience easier:

  • Soldiers conducting a personally procured move are eligible to receive a payment equal to 100% of the estimated cost the government would have paid a moving company to move their items.

  • The Army updated policies and processes to provide PCS orders 120 days prior to report dates to enable better forecasting and scheduling.

  • New safety and security guidelines have been established for moving companies; background checks are required of all employees who interact with Army families, on and off-post.

  • The Army hired additional inspectors, including some military spouses and family members, to ensure moving companies comply with DoD standards.

  • The Army increased the claim notification and submission deadline to 180 days after delivery to identify any loss or damage. Soldiers also have the choice of replacing items or receiving full repair costs.
