If you are planning to drive along the east coast of Uruma City or go to islands such as Henza, Hamahiga, Miyagi, and Ikei this coming Sunday, expect slow-moving traffic.

On March 3 runners will descend on the Kaichu-doro causeway for the Ayahashi Road Race, starting from Katsuren Peninsula to Henza and Miyagi islands. To secure safety for the race, there will be traffic restrictions in place between 8 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.

The race kicks off at Yonashiro Sogo Koen (N 26.330927, E 127.903268), so roads will be blocked around the park during the race. On the causeway, the south-side lanes will be blocked during the period while the north-side lanes will be used for traffic bound both for Henza Island and for the peninsula (on the main island).

Route 10 will also be blocked between the east end of the causeway and Tobaru District on Miyagi Island between 9 and 10:45 a.m. In addition, Hamahiga Bridge will be blocked to traffic between 9 and 11:10 a.m.

Plan ahead and drive safely.
