The last 18 months have been tough for a lot of people. Many are tired, dealing with burnout, ongoing anxiety, financial pressures, work, and academic issues so looking after our mental health is increasingly important. Not everyone is ready or able to connect with a licensed therapist, so the Lifeline is playing a vital role in helping people feel heard and supported, no matter what they may be going through.

With the summer in full swing, you might be thinking about what skills you want to develop or which challenges you want to take on. If you think you are a good listener and you can give some time to be there to support others, then becoming a Lifeline Support Worker might be a good fit for you!

The next course will run in the autumn and comprises an initial 10-week program teaching the listening skills, followed by an apprenticeship period with the line. In total, the training typically takes 4-5 months to complete. During the course, you would be watching presentations, completing the reading, writing a journal, practicing your skills in role-plays, and joining interactive seminars. You would also need to complete a number of supervised shifts on the lifeline itself.

The course is scheduled to run from October 3rd - December 12th, with 3 mandatory 4-hour online sessions on October 3rd, November 14th, and December 12th. Week to week, there are roughly 8 hours of material to complete.
