Strawberry-picking is a popular springtime activity, but in the fall, you can try planting strawberries. Every weekend starting Sept. 23 through Oct. 9, you can test your green thumb at Chura Ichigo Nanjo House, a strawberry farm in Nanjo City.

The planting starts now and in December, the berries are ready for harvest. At the Chura farm’s open house, visitors will have a chance to plant three types of strawberries in the nursery, including “Kaorino,’ “Koiminori” and “Berrie-Hop-Suzu.”

The event is also a great opportunity for first-time visitors to enjoy Chura because it is a beautiful location. Their three large greenhouses are well maintained and let you enjoy planting in a clean environment.

The 1,500-yen (approx. $ 10.14) admission fee includes entry to the planting experience, a strawberry ice cream and a discount coupon for future strawberry picking.

I had a chance to visit there back in spring, and I still remember their surprisingly juicy and sweet strawberries. Why not plant the nursery plants with your own hands and wish for tasty strawberries in the winter and spring to come?
