Winter is the time where we tend to get sick. Hopefully, we would like to avoid catching a cold, the flu, or the coronavirus. But in case we get sick, here are some Japanese phrases to describe symptoms:

“Seki ga demasu” means “I have developed a cough.”

(“seki– sough, “ga” – a particle to indicate a subject, “demasu/deru” – come out)

“Netsu ga arimasu” means “I have a fever.”

(“netsu” – fever, “ga” – a particle to indicate a subject, “arimasu/aru” – there is)

“Nodo no Itami ga arimasu” means “I have a sore throat.”

(“nodo” – throat, “no” – of, “ga” – particle to indicate a subject, “arimasu/aru” – there is)

OK, take good care of yourself and see you in the next episode of Speakin’ Japanese!
