Stripes Okinawa September 12, 2024
While you’re enjoying shopping at a shop in Japan, you may wonder what you can say in Japanese when you want to buy a souvenir. It’s easy and simple. Remember this phrase and say it to a clerk.
Today’s Japanese phrase is:
“kore wo kudasai.” これをください。 = I want to buy this.
“kore” これ = this, “.. wo kudasai” ・・をください = please give me
The clerk might reply:
“Kono (o-)matcha wa 846 (happyaku-rokuju-yo) yen desu.” = This matcha is 864 yen.
*”o-“ is a polite expression, which makes matcha sound more elegant and polite (ex, O-shogatsu (New Years days), O-kane (money), O-kaasan (mother, O-toosan (father)).
Happy shopping!
