OKINAWA

Tsuwano in Shimane Prefecture is a beautiful castle town filled with a classical Japanese atmosphere, which is often called "a little Kyoto."

You’ll find this preserved historical district only a two-hour drive from MCAS Iwakuni. Tsuwano is home to old stone-paved streets, majestic samurai mansions with white earthen walls, a beautiful Catholic church and stone waterways flowing along the streets where hundreds of colorful carp make the picturesque surroundings even more colorful and elegant. Strolling in the district will transport you into the town’s history.

Today's Japanese phrase: “Rekishi wo kanjimasu!” 歴史を感じます! = It makes me feel the history! ("rekishi" 歴史 = history, ".. wo kanjimasu" ・・を感じます = It makes me feel...)

Let's explore Japan in this summer to feel the history of the Land of the Rising Sun!
