Okinawa’s nature theme park Bios on the Hill is hosting Aki-no Tairyoku Sokutei, a series of athletic events from Oct. 12-14 to let you measure your physical fitness and have a lot of fun doing it.
In Japan, people often say “Sports no aki,” or autumn for sports, meaning that the moderate weather of the season is good for outdoor exercise. The park will host a variety of games to let you get active and immerse yourself in the season.
You can enjoy slacklining, long jumps (without runup), balance boards and more at the park.
You can even try your hand at Daruma Otoshi, a fun game where participants hammer a block with other blocks stacked on top. The idea is to see if the participant can keep removing a block at the bottom without letting those on top fall off. This is similar to Jenga, but the blocks are stacked with only one for each layer for Daruma Otoshi. The name comes from the fact that the top block often takes the form of Daruma, a traditional Japanese doll. The word “otoshi” or “otosu” means “drop.”
The park is also preparing record books in English as it expects Americans to have great scores.
Why not come to Bios no Oka (Bios on the Hill) and show what you’ve got?
